Leonardo da Vinci’s love for science

Originally from the Tuscany region, he has been exploring the world around him since his early childhood. Then he became the apprentice of Verrochio (the famous Florentine painter), with whom he learned sculpture, drawing, painting…

Then he moved to Milan where he became a recognized painter and engineer, it is during this period that he painted the famous “Last Supper” on the walls of the refectory of the cloister Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is for him the moment to put into practice his colossal work on the representation of human emotions in painting.

He then painted the Mona Lisa, while continuing his scientific research on fauna, flora and the human body, including one of the most famous works“Vitruvian Man“.

The main interest of this museum is the gallery dedicated to him. You will discover paintings, drawings and especially models of these different inventions, made from his numerous technical drawings.

The Last Supper (1626), by Giovanni Mauro della Rovere, is exhibited as a tribute to the painter’s masterpiece.

Our tips for sleeping in Milan

Don’t hesitate to stay in Milan: opt for the city center near the Duomo! This allows you to visit a large part of the city on foot. The city is full of sublime hotels.

Our ideally located accommodation

1. INTOMILAN Aparthotel Galleria Duomo, just a few minutes’ walk from the Duomo. The hotel’s location is perfect for visiting Milan. Our room was spacious, clean and well decorated. We had an excellent stay.

2. Brera apartments Alla Scala we hesitated for a long time before choosing this accommodation, which is also very well located. It’s an apartment, so it’s easier to cook than in a hotel.

We wish you an excellent trip, and don’t miss the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to a single work of art, but not just any work of art,“The Last Supper“, painted by Leonardo da Vinci.
