During our trip to Puglia, we stayed in Masseria or Agriculturismo, the equivalent of our bed and breakfast, to explore the Italian countryside and sleep in quiet, natural places.

These old agricultural buildings are beautifully restored, combining authenticity and all the modern comforts, often in an incredible natural environment amidst olive trees and vineyards.

Most of the accommodations listed below are located near Monopoli, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Ostuni and Lecce, the main points of interest in the area.

Below we list our 10 most beautiful Masseria in Puglia, exceptional places with incredible pools.

Note that these accommodations are ideal for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries or wedding anniversaries… because the prices are very reasonable. Breakfast is generally included, and there’s an incredible swimming pool.

1- Masseria Cervarolo in Martina Franca – Ostuni

The sublime Masseria Cervarolo is an ancient farmhouse of the XVI century, located in the countryside, only 6km from Ostuni. The hotel is made up of traditional Trulli, whitewashed houses with conical roofs, converted into comfortable rooms with exposed stonework. The 5-year restoration project preserved the original building.

It’s an incredible place with a beautiful large pool, with plenty of loungers, ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The friendly staff will help you organize your stay, so you can go there with your eyes closed.

2- Masseria Montenapoleone – Monopoli – Ostuni

The beautiful Masseria Montenapoleone is nestled in a beautifully renovated building, the whole is very charming with attention to detail and a beautiful pool. Its location, 10 minutes from the sea, between Monopoli, Alberobello and Ostuni, makes it easy to explore the region.

The place is enchanting, in the middle of olive trees, vineyards and cactus, with magnificent sunsets. Many of the products served on the plate are grown directly on the estate.

3- Masseria Berzario – Lecce

Masseria Berzario is a unique address, set amidst olive groves, with beautifully decorated , renovated rooms. It is ideally located south of Lecce the “Baroque Florence of Puglia”, and a 10-minute drive from the coast and itsincredible beaches and rock formations. The swimming pool, surrounded by lawns, is large and pleasant– once again, a real place to relax!

The hotel does not offer on-site catering, only breakfasts featuring local produce. He puts his kitchen at your disposal, very practical to avoid going out in the evening. A fully equipped studio is available for rent, in addition to the rooms. It is an excellent value for money for the region.

4- Masseria San Francesco – Savelletri – Monopoli

The Masseria San Francesco, dating from the 16th century, is an exceptional place that has been extremely well renovated. The rooms are full of character with their beautiful stone walls, and the attractive earthenware in the bathroom adds a touch of modernity.

Nature is omnipresent: the vegetation is lush and the site is nestled among olive trees, with a swimming pool dug directly into the stone. Its location is ideal, just 5 minutes from the coast and 20 minutes from Monopoli, Polignano a Mare and Alberobello. It is also the closest to the city of Bari. 5- Masseria Salinola – Ostuni

The Masseria Salinola is an ancient farmhouse that extends over seven hectares, restored in the local style, with stone and whitewash interiors.

It is ideally located10 minutes from Ostuni, between the Trulli Valley and the Upper Salento. Its location means you can explore the whole region, visiting Alberobello, Martina Franca, Monopoli…

The masseria is nestled in verdant surroundings and producestypical local produce, including extra-virgin olive oil. 6. Masseria Spetterrata – Martina Franca – Locorotondo – Ostuni

Masseria Spetterata is set high up in the Itria Valley, amidst centuries-old olive groves, and boasts an exceptional view of the coastline from the swimming pool. It is one of the Masseria with an excellent location, 15 minutes from the sea, between Monopoli, Alberobello and Ostuni, the main centers of interest in the area.

The welcome is warm, you will feel at home. Breakfast and restaurant dishes are prepared using fresh produce from the garden.

7. Agriturismo Grotta Di Figazzano – Martina Franca – Ostuni

Agriturismo Grota Di Figazzano, a farmhouse dating back to the 1800s, is made up of 9 trulli, traditional whitewashed houses with conical roofs. These typical houses of the Apulian region have an incredible charm. The materials used keep it cool in summer (which can be very appreciable) and keep it warm in winter.

The Masseria Bagnara is an old farmhouse dating back to the end of the XVII century. The facility opened in 2020 after 5 years of renovation. The rooms are spacious, modern and functional.

The masseria is located just ten minutes from Taranto, so you can easily explore the west coast of Puglia and its magnificent beaches, as well as the towns of Taranto and Gallipoli further south.

What to see and do in Puglia, Italy

Puglia is less visited than its neighbouring regions, such as Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, the Naples area and Venice… Obviously, we were very attracted by this part of the world!

The program includes charming little villages such as Monopoli and Polignano a mare, as well as the town of Lecce, “Puglia’s baroque Florence”, and sublime beaches with crystal-clear waters.

You’ll also visit some of the world’s most unique traditional homes, including the Trulli in Alberobello and the Sassi in the historic town of Matera. And last but not least, you’ll be treated to an incredible gastronomy that’s still very much on your palate!
