Sarlat is located in the south-east of the Dordogne or P\u00e9rigord region, nestled between the V\u00e9z\u00e8re valley<\/strong> to the north and the Dordogne valley<\/strong> to the south. This is the Black Perigord<\/strong>, the sites to visit are numerous in this part of the Dordogne.<\/p>\n\n

The V\u00e9z\u00e8re Valley<\/strong>, also known as the “Valley of Man”<\/strong>, is sure to ring a bell. It boasts 25 major prehistoric sites, including the famous Lascaux<\/strong> cave, and beautiful cliffside villages.<\/p>\n\n

The valley of the Dordogne<\/strong>, less steep, ideal to explore by canoe or gabarre, offers incredible panoramas on the“Most Beautiful Villages of France<\/strong>“, the Roque Gaugeac<\/strong> and Beynac<\/strong> and on the medieval castles planted at the top of the villages, vestiges of the wars of former days.<\/p>\n\n

For those of you who don’t miss any of our articles, I grew up in P\u00e9rigueux<\/strong>, the capital of the Dordogne, located about 1h15 from Sarlat. I have been walking and discovering the many sites of the department<\/strong> since I was a child, and I always take as much pleasure in making Matthieu or my friends (not from P\u00e9rigord) discover them!<\/p>\n\n
