The Malm\u00f6-Copenhagen Bridge, the\u00d8resund<\/strong> Bridge or Oresundsbron<\/strong>, is not only a marvel of modern engineering, it is also the fruit of an ambitious vision born of the desire to bring two nations closer together. <\/p>\n\n

The idea for the bridge dates back several decades, symbolizing a dream of connectivity and cooperation between Sweden and Denmark. Designed to withstand the region’s harsh climatic conditions, this architectural masterpiece required meticulous planning and state-of-the-art engineering.<\/p>\n\n

The project began in the 1990s, marked by daring technical challenges. The bridge is a blend of suspension bridge, cable-stayed bridge and underwater tunnel, a unique combination adapted to the specific needs of the site. This design not only met the navigational requirements of the strait, but also minimized environmental impact, making theOresundsbron<\/strong> Bridge an outstanding example of sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n

Why this multi-named bridge? <\/strong>You’re wondering, and so are we. The strait between Sweden and Denmark is called the Orseund, with a crossed-out \u00d8 in Danish and an \u00d6 with umlaut in Swedish. Bridge is called bro in Danish and Bron Swedish. The name of this pharaonic project is the\n \u00d8resundsbron<\/strong>\n<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

Voyage sur le Pont – Tunel: From Sweden to Denmark<\/h2>\n\n

We crossed the bridge with our camper van<\/strong>, which was a really great experience on our Scandinavian trip, even though we were in the middle of a storm.<\/p>\n\n

We took it from Sweden to Denmark<\/strong>. From Malm\u00f6 in Sweden, the bridge rises gently, offering a panoramic view of the \u00d8resund, before plunging into the underwater tunnel to Denmark. The exit is located right next to Copenhagen airport. This 16-kilometre<\/strong> crossing can be made by car, train or bus.<\/p>\n\n

For our part, we preferred to wait 2 days before taking the bridge, as the area was hit by a major storm (the bridge was still open). Even though it was still raining and the wind was still blowing, we decided to take to the bridge in the grayish weather. <\/p>\n\n

A word of advice: of course, if you have the chance, take it on a clear day, and why not at the end of the day, at sunset, when the sky turns bright colors.<\/p>\n\n
