Ghost shipwrecks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The remains of ancient shipwrecks are one of the Skeleton Coast&#8217;s star attractions. Among the most famous: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Zeila<\/strong>, a relatively recent wreck (2008), lies just <strong>14 km south of Henties Bay<\/strong>. Easily accessible, it offers a spectacular backdrop for photographers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The South West Seal<\/strong> or <strong>Benguala Eagle<\/strong>, an older, partially silted-up wreck that bears witness to the tragic fate of many ships in this region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. In December, at the height of the breeding season, over <strong>100,000 sea lions<\/strong> live here, putting on an impressive, noisy and fragrant show! <\/p>\n\n<p>You can observe them at close quarters from <strong>specially-designed platforms<\/strong>. During the birthing season (October to December), the site becomes even more fascinating, with thousands of baby sea lions playing in the water or searching for their mothers. If you wish to explore the <strong>southern part of the park<\/strong>, the part with the most to see, between <strong>the Ugab Gate entrance<\/strong> and <strong>Terrace Bay<\/strong>, a permit can easily be obtained at the park entrance or at the <strong>Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR<\/strong>) offices. This section is accessible <strong>without a guide<\/strong>, provided you have a <strong>4&#215;4<\/strong>, which is essential for driving on the sandy tracks.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>North of Terrace Bay<\/strong>, however, access becomes much more restricted. This area is classified as a <strong>protected zone<\/strong> and can <strong>only<\/strong> be accessed <strong>as part of an organized trip with a licensed operator<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why visit the Skeleton Coast?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The Skeleton Coast is an <strong>extraordinary<\/strong> destination, where the harsh climate has shaped some striking landscapes.
