On the day we&#8217;d planned to visit <strong>the Aurlandsfellet scenic route<\/strong>, we woke up to overcast skies and persistent rain &#8211; clearly, we wouldn&#8217;t have seen a thing from the various viewpoints along the way. So we took the opportunity to rest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/no\/apartment-602.en.html?aid=1529171&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in our apartment<\/a>. This is very common in summer, when Norway takes advantage of more favorable weather conditions to maintain its road network. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x1f6a7; In the event of roadworks, traffic is generally regulated by an <strong>opening car<\/strong>. It can be easily identified by the sign <strong>&#8221; <em>Ledebil &#8211; F\u00f8lg meg<\/em> &#8220;.<\/strong> All you have to do is follow it, wait a few minutes and then leave once the section has been cleared. The system is simple, well organized and rarely restrictive.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ferry_operations_in_Norway\"><\/span>Ferry operations in Norway<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to<strong>deroad trips from Bergen<\/strong>, it&#8217;s impossible to ignore the ferries. In Norway, <strong>they are an integral part of the road network<\/strong>. During our <strong>road trips in Norway<\/strong>, we took countless ferries, sometimes several a day. Norwegians take the ferry just as we take the bus or train.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of them are very simple to operate without reservations:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>we arrive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>we&#8217;re queuing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>on board<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>we cross<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you enter your itinerary on Google maps, the ferry timetables will be shown.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ferry_payments_simple_and_automatic\"><\/span>Ferry payments: simple and automatic<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Car_rental\"><\/span>Car rental<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Norway, payment for ferries is now <strong>largely automated<\/strong>, even with a rental car. Your vehicle will be fitted with an <strong>electronic box<\/strong>, or the license plate will simply be scanned when you board.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So you don&#8217;t have to pay anything on the spot. Crossings are then <strong>billed automatically<\/strong> and re-billed by the rental company at the end of the rental period, or debited via the system associated with the vehicle. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"With_your_own_car\"><\/span>With your own car<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are bringing your own vehicle, we recommend that you register with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epass24.com\/fr\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.epass24.com\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EPass24<\/a><\/strong>. The principle is very simple: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>we register the plate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>we associate a bank card<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the moment of boarding, the plate is scanned and <strong>the amount automatically debited<\/strong>. No ticket, no on-site procedures. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short, they save time, avoid long detours and let you enjoy the scenery to the full.
