<strong>caves, cliffs and sometimes even dolphins<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x1f4a1; We were <strong>pleasantly surprised<\/strong> by the <strong>quality of the excursions<\/strong> on offer and above all by the <strong>low prices<\/strong>, which really allow you to indulge yourself without blowing the budget, we were able to take advantage of this to try out several.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Just below, we share with you our favorite outings<\/strong> (the ones we recommend with our eyes closed).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x1f467; It&#8217;s also a great activity to do with the whole family, as the kids are sure to love it!<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Benagil_emblematic_cave_and_how_to_see_it_%E2%80%9Cwithout_the_hassle%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>Benagil: emblematic cave (and how to see it &#8220;without the hassle&#8221;)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pourquoi-pas-nous.com\/en\/?p=77773\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"77163\">Benagil cave<\/a><\/strong> is a must: arches, light falling from the &#8220;well&#8221;, turquoise water&#8230; it&#8217;s like a postcard.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x26a0;&#xfe0f; Important: access <strong>may be highly restricted<\/strong>, and <strong>swimming is strongly discouraged<\/strong> (and may be prohibited\/sanctioned depending on current regulations and sea conditions).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you had to book <strong>just one sea outing<\/strong>, this would be it.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two recommended ways:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>By boat<\/strong>: the easiest way, small cruise boats depart from the main Algarve villages:<br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#x1f42c; <strong>The most complete outing<\/strong>: <a land on the beach inside the cave.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x1f449; We recommend this 1-hour kayak trip, supervised in French by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourguide.fr\/algarve-l66\/benagil-excursion-en-kayak-vers-la-grotte-de-benagil-douche-gratuite-t216270\/?partner_id=0LXQSML&amp;utm_medium=online_publisher&amp;cmp=activitealgarve\" Parking is limited near the site, especially in summer, so we preferred to avoid the stress of parking. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We set off from the historic center and join the coastal path that begins in the vicinity of <strong>Forte da Ponta da Bandeira<\/strong>, on the seafront. Allow around <strong>30 minutes of leisurely walking<\/strong> to reach the first rock formations. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the very first meters, the path skirts the cliffs, offering magnificent views of the coves below and the rocks sculpted by erosion. The light changes constantly, with the Atlantic hitting the ochre cliffs, and we often stop to admire the scenery. Here are some of our favorite beaches and coves:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Praia = beach in French<\/em><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Praia d&#8217;Armona<\/strong> on the island of Armona in Olhao, fine sand and transparent water, less touristy beach located in the Ria Formosa nature reserve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Praia da Fal\u00e9sia <\/strong>: about 20 minutes away by car, this 6km-long beach is famous for its <strong>red cliffs<\/strong> and huge beach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Praia dos Estudantes<\/strong> in Lagos: our favorite, a small<strong> beach tucked away<\/strong>between cliffs, famous for its <strong>rocky bridge<\/strong> linking two walls and giving the place a lot of charm. Access is only possible <strong>at low tide<\/strong>, as you have to pass through a small tunnel under the cliff, which is filled with water at high tide. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Praia dos Salgados<\/strong> and <strong>Praia Grande de P\u00eara<\/strong> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pourquoi-pas-nous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Que-faire-a-Armacao-de-Pera-au-Portugal-nos-incontournables-generated-pin-76818.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"77258\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arma\u00e7ao de Pera<\/a>. Both beaches border the <strong>Lagoa dos Salgados<\/strong> nature reserve.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Praia dos Tr\u00eas Irm\u00e3os<\/strong> in Alvor, with its rock formations and crystal-clear waters typical of the Algarve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s also worth noting that the water remains very cool, even in midsummer. It&#8217;s clearly colder than on our French coasts, and yet we live on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pourquoi-pas-nous.com\/en\/oleron-island-beaches\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"5785\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the Ile d&#8217;Ol\u00e9ron<\/a>, so we&#8217;re used to swimming in the Atlantic. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Algarve, the cold sea breeze makes itself felt. On the sand, in the sun, it&#8217;s easy to get hot&#8230; but once you&#8217;re in the water, the difference is immediate! <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x2757; We really recommend packing a <strong>short wetsuit<\/strong>, especially if you&#8217;re traveling with children. It allows you to enjoy the clear, translucent waters without shivering after five minutes. For the little ones, it&#8217;s almost essential if you want to prolong the swim a little and avoid them coming out freezing.
