region&#8217;s most beautiful sea caves.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best-known area is around <strong>Algar de Benagil<\/strong>, between Carvoeiro and Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara, but there are also numerous caves around Portim\u00e3o, Praia da Marinha and Lagos.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_visit_the_caves_in_the_Algarve\"><\/span>How to visit the caves in the Algarve?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vast majority of caves are dug at the base of cliffs and are mainly accessible by boat. Several options are available, depending on your budget and desired experience.   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kayaking<\/strong> is one of the most popular options, especially around the famous Benagil cave: you can enter certain caves when conditions are right, and explore at your own pace.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Boat excursions<\/strong>, departing from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pourquoi-pas-nous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Que-faire-a-Albufeira-plages-et-sortie-en-bateau-generated-pin-75907.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"79196\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Albufeira<\/a>, Portim\u00e3o or Lagos, are ideal if you prefer a supervised, effortless outing, with explanations of the formation of the cliffs and the local fauna.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Last but not least, many of the formations and caves can <strong>be explored on foot<\/strong>, following the paths along the coastline or from the beach, usually at low tide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Benagil_cave_the_Algarves_must-see_cave\"><\/span>Benagil cave: the Algarve&#8217;s must-see cave<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is certainly <strong>the most famous cave in the Algarve<\/strong>. Located between Carvoeiro and Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara, it is recognizable by its <strong>circular opening in the ceiling<\/strong>, which lets in a spectacular beam of light. Inside, a <strong>small beach nestles beneath the rock<\/strong>, surrounded by rounded ochre walls.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cave can only be reached from the sea, by kayak or boat. This beach, often ranked among the most beautiful in Europe, hides caves and natural arches below the golden cliffs, accessible by kayak or boat. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, the water is limpid, almost turquoise, and the rock formations are particularly photogenic, including a <strong>huge boulder in the middle of the water<\/strong> and<strong> two pretty natural arches next to each other.<\/strong> The caves are not as large as those at Benagil, but the atmosphere is often wilder.
