However, as soon as the desire for warmer, clearer waters arises, we love to head for the <strong>Mediterranean<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of our favorite places to visit is <strong>Menton<\/strong>. We&#8217;ll tell you why it&#8217;s a great idea to include this town in your road trip to the South-East or your Mediterranean vacation. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img border<\/strong>, Menton cultivates an identity all its own. It combines turquoise seas, pastel facades and an almost Italian ambience. And of course, it speaks to us.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We love Italy, whether it&#8217;s the elegance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pourquoi-pas-nous.com\/en\/visiter-lac-come\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.pourquoi-pas-nous.com\/visiter-lac-come\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lake Como<\/a> or the vibrant energy of Naples, which we&#8217;ve already shared with you on the blog. Here, we find some of that <strong>dolce vita<\/strong> without even leaving France.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s exactly the kind of place where you&#8217;d love to put down your suitcases for a few days. The colorful houses of the old town seem to cascade down to the sea.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend climbing up the cobbled streets to the <strong>Vieux-Ch\u00e2teau cemetery<\/strong> to admire <strong>the incredible panorama<\/strong> of colorful rooftops, the old port and the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend that you then head back down to the <strong>Promenade du Soleil<\/strong>, where you can walk along the pebble beaches and stop off at a terrace overlooking the sea. Everything is done on foot.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x1f1ee;&#x1f1f9; And Italy is just a short train ride away. In just 15 minutes, we recommend you travel to the <strong>Italian<\/strong> town of <strong>Ventimiglia<\/strong>. Protected by the mountains, the town escapes some of the cold winds. The result: <strong>particularly mild winters<\/strong>, making it a great mid-season destination, away from the summer crowds.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This climate explains the presence of the <strong>famous lemon trees<\/strong>. The town is famous for its annual <strong>Lemon Festival, <\/strong>usually held in February. For several weeks, monumental sculptures decorate the town, attracting visitors from all over France.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_more_peaceful_alternative_to_the_Rivieras_big_cities\"><\/span>A more peaceful alternative to the Riviera&#8217;s big cities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we think of the <strong>C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur<\/strong>, we often think of<strong> Nice, Cannes or Monaco<\/strong>. Magnificent destinations, but sometimes very crowded. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Menton offers a quieter atmosphere. Stroll through the old town, linger at the Halles market, enjoy the beaches without excessive hustle and bustle. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Remarkable_gardens_facing_the_sea\"><\/span>Remarkable gardens facing the sea<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x1f33f; Thanks to its privileged climate, Menton is home to several remarkable gardens. The <strong>Val Rahmeh botanical garden<\/strong> and the <strong>Madone gardens <\/strong>are true havens of peace. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These places are ideal for walks and discoveries of species from Asia, South America and Africa.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Crystal-clear_beaches\"><\/span>Crystal-clear beaches<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Menton, the beaches are clearly one of the <strong>pleasant surprises<\/strong>. They are mainly pebbled, as is often the case on the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur, but the water is incredibly clear.
