How do I get to the Dominican Republic from France?
Travelling to the Dominican Republic is child’s play thanks to numerous direct flights from France. Regular flights are available from a number of French cities, including Paris, Lyon… We advise you to compare the price of flights from different cities to find what you’re looking for.
For our part, we flew with Air Caraïbes, which offered the best price for a flight from Lyon to the Dominican Republic.
In addition to competitive fares, the company offers excellent on-board service and direct flights, reducing travel time and increasing your vacation time under the Caribbean sun.
For families, children are really well looked after, their meals are served first and they are offered little goodies, enough to keep them occupied for a few minutes! We also flew with this airline for our trip to Martinique in February, and our daughter loved it.

Where is the Dominican Republic?
For those who don’t know the Dominican Republic at all, it’s located in the Caribbean, more precisely on the island ofHispaniola, which it shares with Haiti.
The Dominican Republic occupies the eastern part of the island. It lies to the east of Cuba and to the west of Puerto Rico, offering a central point between the Greater Antilles and the Lesser Antilles.
With a surface area of 48,671 km², it is one of the largest islands in the Caribbean, offering a diversity of landscapes ranging from idyllic beaches to verdant mountains.
5 reasons to spend your vacation in the Dominican Republic
1. Excursion to the wild island of Saona
Saona Island is often described as a paradise on earth, because the beaches are simply heavenly. Accessible by boat from Bayahibe, this island is part of the Parque Nacional de l’Este and offers palm-fringed white sand beaches, turquoise waters and an atmosphere of total relaxation.
It’s the place to be during your Dominican Republic vacation, where you can unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the Caribbean.

2. Discover Santo Domingo’s Colonial Quarter
Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, is a city rich in history and culture. This is where you’ll find the Colonial Quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can stroll along cobblestone streets lined with colorful buildings dating back to colonial times. We loved the atmosphere here, and the visit reminded us of our trip to Cuba.
For food lovers, Santo Domingo offers a variety of restaurants serving delicious local cuisine, as well as quaint cafés where you can enjoy a good Dominican coffee. We recommend a stop at the Mercado Modelo, a covered market where you’re sure to find what you’re looking for!
One last point: if you like to get off the beaten track, this part of the island is generally less visited, and we think that’s a shame. The good thing is that even in high season, the town remains relatively uncrowded.

3. Samaná Peninsula
The Samaná peninsula offers breathtaking scenery and, once again, heavenly beaches. From January to March, you can watch the humpback whales that come to the bay to breed.
The immense Coson beach, with its golden sands and clear waters, is the beach not to be missed in Samaná.

4. Enjoy the paradise beaches of Punta Cana
Of course, if you go to the Dominican Republic, you won’t want to miss the beaches of Punta Cana, synonymous with paradise beaches and turquoise waters.
The fine sandy beaches are perfect for relaxing, while the crystal-clear waters invite you to swim or snorkel and dive.

5. Trip to Los Haitises national park
Los Haitises National Park, on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, is a natural paradise offering a unique immersion in the region’s biodiversity and history.
Covering some 1,600 km², this park is famous for its impressive karst formations, dense mangroves and prehistoric caves adorned with Taino rock paintings. This nature reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
