2 fjords are located near Bergen:
- Osterfjord
- the Sognfjord
Here’s the cruise we’ve selected for a day trip from Bergen and why?
Sailing the Osterfjord: an unforgettable cruise
Why did we choose this cruise?
- The Osterfjord is the most accessible fjord from Bergen, and many cruises leave from the port of Bergen for the village of Mostraumen, at the end of the fjord.
We opted for this option to reduce the sailing time needed to reach the fjord, and after 30 minutes we were already at the gates of the fjord.
- The company operating the cruise, Rødne Fjord Cruise, has an excellent reputation. The cruise is open in summer and winter.
- The price is attractive for this type of activity in Norway, around €70 per adult.
Description of the boat trip from Bergen
From Bergen harbor, near the fish market, we boarded a magnificent boat. We first admired the charming view of the Bryggen district before setting off to explore the fjord.
Arriving by boat on a fjord is always an impressive experience, and we felt very small surrounded by the imposing cliffs.
For 3h30 we sailed along the tranquil waters of the fjord, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. This boat trip offers breathtaking views of Norwegian nature, with strategic stops to admire the most impressive vistas.
➡️ As you’d expect, this is a popular cruise, so we advise you to book your Osterfjord cruise tickets online in advance (approx. €70 per person), especially during the tourist season, as the number of places per boat is limited.
Bergen Sognefjord and Flam cruise
A second option is to sail along the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord.
You can opt for a full-day cruise from Bergen and back (12h excursion) to explore this corner of Norway, with a stopover in the village of Flam. The fjord is located 1h30 from Bergen, so the sailing time may seem a little long before reaching the fjord.
