How to get to Pompeii from Naples?
If you visit Pompeii, we recommend you to discover Naples. If you are driving, it is possible to take the A3 highway towards Salerno and take the exit for Pompeii. If you prefer to use public transportation, you can take the train called Circumvesuviana from the Naples train station to the Pompeii Scavi station, located a few minutes walk from the archaeological site.

Many campsites are located in front of or in the immediate vicinity of the site, some are a little noisy because they are also close to the main roads.
We advise you to choose a remote campsite, 15-20 minutes walk away, where you will have a more comfortable setting and better prices.
Note that Pompeii is one of the most touristy sites in Italy, so the campsites are organized to accommodate the crowd, the spaces are small and the green areas are few. In short, don’t expect to find campsites in the middle of nature.
1. La Terrasse d’Hermès : an ideal camping area
We slept here when we went to Pompeii with our camper. It is a quiet and affordable place located about 20 minutes walk from the archaeological site. The short walk of about 1.5 kilometers is easy, you can take advantage of it to buy your breakfast in one of the many bakeries that you will cross on your way. You can also get to the site by cab.
Its infrastructures are basic but functional and the owners are very welcoming, a glass of limocello will be offered to you at your arrival. It is an ideal choice for those looking for a quiet and economical place.

2. Camping Zeus : in front of the Pompeii site with swimming pool
This campsite is located a few steps from the archaeological site of Pompeii, in a quiet and wooded environment, two important points in this region, the staff is friendly and will give you plenty of advice.
It is located near the Pompeii train station, from which you can easily get to Naples and visit Herculaneum, bus connections are available to discover Vesuvius. This is an excellent option.
It offers good value for money for those looking for a campsite in the immediate vicinity of the archaeological site.

3. Camping Spartacus : with swimming pool
Camping Spartacus is a campsite with a swimming pool and a playground for children. The facilities are simple but functional, and the rates are affordable. Located a few minutes walk from Pompeii and close to the train station that serves all the surroundings.

4. The Agricampeggio La Giuliana: in a quiet place
We had hesitated with this agricamper located just in front of La Terrasse d’Hermès, our number 1 address and which seems just as good with similar infrastructures.
Located just 1.5 km from the archaeological site of Pompeii, Agricampeggio La Giuliana is a campsite surrounded by greenery. The facilities are simple but functional, and the rates are affordable.

5. Fortuna Village Pompei
Located only 500 meters from the archaeological site of Pompeii, Fortuna Village Pompei is a family campground. The facilities are modern and well maintained, and the welcome is warm.
However, the rates can be higher than in other campsites in the region, due to the services offered.
